UBallet Gala

In conjunction with the Logan Arts Center opening weekend, University Ballet of Chicago presents a free performance to start the new academic year. Come see the University of Chicago's student ballet company perform both old favorites and new additions to its repertoire. All are welcome! DATE: Friday, October 12, 2012 TIME: Performance starts at 6:00 p.m., and is expected to last one hour. PRICE: Free! Location: Theater East in the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts. Questions? Welcome, new students! We are excited to welcome a new group of dancers to the University of Chicago. The following is a list of events happening this week where you can meet us and talk to us about dance and ballet at the University of Chicago:- Thursday, September 27th, 3–4:30 PM: Performing Arts Panel—Ask questions of a UBallet representative, as well as other representatives from Fine Arts groups on campus. Location: Francis X. Kinahan Third Floor Theater of Reynolds Club (5706 S University Ave)
- Friday, September 28th, 11 AM–3 PM: Performing Arts Open House—Come stop by the TAPS Lounge in the Logan Arts Center to speak to a UBallet representative, ask questions, and get information about the coming year. Free food will be available! Location: TAPS Suite (2nd floor) Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts (915 East 60th Street)
Discover Ballet!
July 20, 2012 – 12:43pm
Discover Ballet with the University Ballet of Chicago! In this free 45-minute performance, children and their families will join UBallet in the studio for an introduction to famous excerpts from ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Don Quixote... only feet from the dancers! Kids will also have a chance to learn about costuming and pas de deux, and try out a few ballet steps with the assistance of UBallet's teaching staff.

La Baydere Cast and Crew: Viewing Party and Potluck! - Friday, November 18th @ 6:30pm
November 10th, 2011 – 11:25pm
It's our first UBallet movie night for La Bayadere cast and crew! We are holding a viewing party for La Bayadere. It's a cult classic with crop tops and a man with gold skin for bonus points. We're having this event so we can all get to know each other, familiarize ourselves with the ballet and just get generally pumped about everything. The veterans of UBallet will be cooking food to share potluck-style, but if you would like to bring anything, just post your plans on the Facebook wall so we can arrange for a variety of options.

We at University Ballet are very excited for full-length production of La Bayadere, and we would love to have you join us! Performances of University Ballet's winter show, La Bayadere, will take place on February 25th and February 26th in Mandel Hall, on the University of Chicago campus. Auditions will be held on Sunday, October 16th, 2011 in Ida Noyes Dance Studio, located at 59th and Woodlawn in Hyde Park (map). Our audition schedule is below:

Costume Closet Cleaning Event: Come meet fellow dancers, Saturday, October 1st!
September 28th, 2011 – 7:39pm
You're invited to our Costume Closet Cleaning Event this Saturday, October 1st, 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM! The event will take place right outside of the dance studios in Ida Noyes basement. We will be showing past performances, eating snacks, and getting to know each other while putting tutus in order and taking inventory of costumes/headpieces. Feel free to come and go as you please! If you would like to get in on our pizza lunch, we ask that you arrive before or at noon for a head count and bring $1 to $2 for the pizza fund. This is a fantastic way to catch up and/or meet the UBallet community, so we hope to see you there!
