Summer ClassesSummer is obviously a lot more difficult to arrange a class schedule for, due to most of our regular dancers going home for the break. Still, we make a point to provide three classes a week. Although the classes have assigned levels, please don't let that deter you from attending. Small classes let the teacher easily accomodate to the levels of anyone who attends. Also note that teachers may choose to cancel class if there are not enough students (usually less than four). This is because it is very difficult to teach to such a small number effectively, and because enthusiasm in both students and teachers tends to be, well, abysmal. Don't let that stop you from coming! The more you come, the less likely it is a teacher will request cancelling class! The schedule is on the Google calendar. Le Corsaire - Best Event of the YearORCSA (The Office of the Reynold's Club and Student Affairs) has awarded University Ballet and the University of Chicago Fencing Team the title of Best Event of 2007-2008 for our production of Le Corsaire! Congratulations to everyone involved! We hope to make next years' shows even more spectacular. If you missed the show, check out some awesome pictures from Corsaire.
Cinderella - Full LengthUBallet is way crazy excited to announce that our next winter show (in February 2009) will be a full length production of Prokofiev's Cinderella ballet. Aside from being a comedic and easy to relate to ballet, Cinderella will offer our dancers, old and new, a wide variety of soloist parts and choreographically exciting (!) corps de ballet. Auditions will take place at the beginning of Fall Quarter (likely first of second week) and are open to everyone interested. We make sure everyone who auditions is cast in the production, so there is no excuse to not try out!
